Josephine loved Australian Birds! Her treatment of them & their personalities - whether it be Oils, Gouache, or Watercolours - shone through each delicate painting. The love of her life & husband, Roy, built her studio with many large windows that looked out onto the 5 acres of bushland. He would put feed out for them in the garden below and the birds naturally flocked in, perching on the branches outside her studio, before swooping down to join the others for seeds. They soon became comfortable watching her back, through the window, working away at her paintings.
